eConsult is available between 06:30 and 18:30 Mon-Thurs. However, due to patient safety and staff availability, it will be closed on Fridays at 13:00 until the following Monday at 06:30

Please note only one query should be submitted per eConsult form.

Book a Nurse appointment via Systmonline

You are able to book an appointment via Systmonline with one of our practice Nurses for dressings, pill checks or Annual Diabetic Reviews. You are also able to book to see our HCAs for a blood test or Annual Passport Review.

Routine Appointments

For a routine appointment Monday to Friday we recommend clicking HERE to inform us what you would like the appointment for and we will contact you by the end of the next working day. Your GP may not need to see you and will be able to help you through a video or telephone consultation; you won't need to leave the house!

If you do not wish to use the above service please call us on 01273 492255 between 08:30 – 17:30.

Appointments are available to book up to one week in advance and are scheduled to last 15 minutes. You will be asked for brief details of the reason for your appointment when booking; this is to enable us to give you an appointment with the most appropriate person.  You may express a preference of a doctor and we will do our best to accommodate, however, it will not always be possible to see the doctor of your choice.

There are a limited number of early appointments available for patients who wish to be seen before 08:00.

Urgent Appointments for Today or Tomorrow (Monday To Friday)

Please note we do not offer a walk-in facility

If you think you need to be seen URGENTLY on the day we ask that you always telephone us first so that a member of our Triage Team can assess your condition over the telephone and if necessary arrange a time for you to come in as soon as possible to allow you to receive the care you need.

Please call when possible before 10:30 if you feel you need to be seen the same day; one of our clinicians will be available to deal with emergencies between 08:00 and 18:30.

Emergencies:

For example chest pain, stroke symptoms, loss of consciousness: Dial 999

Telephone Consultations

The doctors are able to discuss problems over the telephone. If you need help or advice please telephone us on 01273 492255 where you will but through to a trained member of our team.

In some cases you may be offered an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many ailments such as contraception advice & reviews, dressings, annual reviews and vaccinations.

Chaperone

When you attend the medical centre if you feel you would like a Chaperone present at your consultation please inform the clinician you are with.

They will more than happy to arrange this for you.

For more information please view our Chaperone Leaflet.

Training Practice

We are a training practice involved in the training of Medical Students and GP's in training.

Medical Students

We facilitate GP Assistantships and students in Year 1, 2 and 4 of their training programme.

Registrars

Registrars are fully trained Doctors and are required to spend a year with a specially qualified practitioner before going on to practice on their own.

We expect that you will accept their services as an extension of our own.

We currently have 2 registrars at Henfield Medical Centre, Dr Seb shaw and Dr Ralph Keita, whom you may be offered an appointment with.

GP Enhanced Access

Enhanced Access (additional appointments) is a service introduced by the NHS in October 2022.

It requires GP practices to provide additional appointments to patients during evenings and weekends; until 8pm on weekdays, and from 9am-5pm on Saturdays as a minimum.

This is being delivered at Primary Care Network-level, meaning neighbouring GP practices in Chanctonbury have shared use of the service (Billingshurst surgery, Henfield Medical Centre, The Glebe Surgery and Steyning Health Centre).
Depending on your specific needs and the availability of services and clinicians, your practice may offer you an evening or weekend appointment at our enhanced access hub.

A mix of services will be available within these additional hours hubs, with access to the range of health professionals working in the primary care team. There will be a choice of ways to access appointments depending on clinical need, such as telephone, video consultation or face to face.

If a face-to-face appointment is needed, this will be at a GP practice in the local area – this may not be at your own GP practice, but at another nearby. Within Chanctonbury these will be available at The Glebe Surgery in Storrington and/or at Steyning Health Centres sister site in Upper Beeding.

Enhanced Access sessions will be staffed by a mix of GPs, Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistants, and a Receptionist.

Because this is a shared resource, each practice has a fair share of appointments with each clinician. For that reason, appointments will not be able for patients to book themselves directly.

Please note access to our Enhanced Access hubs are by appointment only.

It is not a walk-in service, and the venue is not open for general practice enquiries. All requests still need to be made to practices during their normal opening hours (and able to be cancelled by the patient remotely).

Home Visits

Where possible please telephone reception between 8:30 am - 10:00 am if you require a home visit.

What will happen when I call?

You will be asked the reason for the home visit and the doctor will telephone you first to discuss the need for the visit.

Am I eligible for a home visit?

  • You can have a home visit if you are unwell and housebound or are too ill to visit the practice.
  • Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed.

If you require regular home visits your GP may refer you to be visited at home by a community nurse.

You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance (excluding weekends and public holidays).

You can also text to cancel your appointment or call us on 01273 492255 and select option 1 and leave yours and your appointment details.
