ADHD Checklist

If you suspect that you/your child may have ADHD, we can provide information and start a referral process 

 

Annual Blood Test (formally your passport)

This clinic is by invitation via email or text and is now just a blood test appointment. You may be asked to bring a urine sample to your appointment in a clean plastic container. 

We also ask that you take your blood pressure in our waiting room. 

 

Asthma Questionnaire and advice

If you would like some advice regarding your asthma please book an appointment with a nurse via Rapid Health & Appointments

We have diabetic nurses at HMC, who make sure that your medication is correct for you. Annual reviews are conducted around the month of your birth and you will be invited. 

 

Autism and Neurodiversity in Children

If you suspect that you/your child may have Austism, we can provide information and start a referral process

Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)

Exercises to help stop the dizzy spells are available for people suffering from BPPV. These exercises are known as Brandt-Daroff exercises and the details can be found HERE.

 

Blood Pressure

Come visit our in-house "Health Kiosk" where you can record your blood pressure. It is easy to use and in reception

BMI Calculator 

A higher BMI increases the chance of developing long-term conditions, such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease. BMI score is a broadly used test for determining body mass catergories. To do this you need to know your height and weight. Please visit NHS BMI 

 

Breast Cancer Screening/Mammograms

Breast screening is for women with no symptoms. It uses an X-ray called a mammogram to detect cancers too small to see or feel. Invitations will be sent to you (not by us, its external). In the UK, the NHS routinely invites women aged 50 to 70 every three years. Please visit our Breast Screening page for further information

 

Have you found a lump?

Men and women should check their chest area monthly and contact a GP if they notice: 
  • A new lump or thickening (usually painless)
  • Nipple discharge (fluid leaking)
  • A nipple that is inverted (pulled inward)
  • Redness, scaling, or a rash around the nipple
  • Swelling or a lump under the armpit [1, 2]

Bowel Cancer Screening/FIT test/Stool

If you're aged 50 to 74 and registered with a GP, you'll automatically get a bowel cancer screening home test kit (FIT kit) through the post every 2 years. If you're aged 75 or over, you can call the bowel cancer screening helpline on 0800 707 6060 every 2 years to ask for the test. https://www.nhs.uk/tests-and-treatments/bowel-cancer-screening/

Cervical Screening

You will be booked with one of our female nurses who are trained in cervical smear tests. If can opt to have a chaperone attending

Diabetes 

Diabetes is a chronic condition where your body either cannot produce enough insulin or cannot effectively use the insulin it makes. This causes sugar (glucose) to build up in your blood. The two main types are Type 1 (an autoimmune disease) and Type 2 (often linked to lifestyle and insulin resistance)

Exercise

Exercise is so important for your physical wellbeing. It is recommended to exercise for 30 minutes per day. You should include muscle-strengthening activities at least 2 days a week - but there are many fun ways to achieve this - please see our Exercise page for more details

Health Kiosk

Our self-service kiosk allows you enter Blood Pressure, HRT review and Pill Check data without seeing a nurse. It is located in reception

Infected Blood

If you had a blood transfusion before 1996, there's a chance you may have been given infected blood. This could mean you were infected with Hepatitis C. Today, all blood donated in the UK is screened using very rigorous safety standards and testing to protect both donors and patients. Nitazenes and Naloxone

Nitazenes are a class of highly potent synthetic opioids, often significantly stronger than fentanyl, that are increasingly found as contaminants in the UK illicit drug supply. 

Naloxone is a life-saving medication that temporarily reverses the effects of an opioid overdose and is effective for treating nitazene exposure

PSA Blood Test

A Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test measures the level of PSA protein in your blood. Elevated levels are often a prompt to investigate symptoms related to the prostate, such as an enlarged prostate, inflammation (prostatitis), or prostate cancer

We usually run vaccination clinics in Spring and Winter, we will send invites if and when you are eligable. Criteria changes all the time and our records update accordingly. If you are not eligable for a vaccination here at HMC, you can request this at your local pharmacy, which you may need to pay for
